Illuminating sixth form pupils

Velfac Ltd Illuminating sixth form pupilsUsed to enhance both the interior and exterior environment, Velfac glazing has been installed in a new sixth form centre at St. Gregory's Catholic Comprehensive School in Tunbridge Wells. The centre comprises six classrooms, seminar and tutorial spaces, a video conferencing suite, leisure facilities, a common room and a 'sanctuary' - a space for reflection. The large wondows make the most of the countrside views, with brise soleil minimising solar gain. In the sanctuary, full length Velfac windows create a glazed screen through which students can look out onto a small courtyard. The clean design also features glass corners which make distinctive visual feature while also increasing internal illumination.

Coherent aesthetics

Velfac Ltd Coherent aestheticsBased on the established 200 System, Velfac 200 Plus composite windows feature enhancements and installation details designed to provide a cost-effective system. The product delivers a high quality composite finish with hard wearing aluminium externally and natural wood internally. It allows for fa?ades where opening and fixed lights have identical sightlines, and the window wall maintains the visual appearance of other glazing in the project, providing a coherent aesthetic for the whole development. A sequence of tests on a window wall at 6.6m by 8.8m - made up of 16 units and 26 sashes - in a sealed test chamber meant the product achieved CWCT certification and was tested to BS EN 13830.
