A thermally-broken vertical sliding window that is eminently flexible but compliant with the ventilation requirements of Document F has been launched by Kawneer. These thermal properties have been achieved by a polyamide break that is said to achieve optimum weather resistance and thermal efficiency.

Stormking Plastics Get to grip with storage

As part of its ongoing maintenance requirements, Wrekin Housing Trust has recently carried out improvements at Churchill Court in Telford, including replacing the traditional wooden doors of the storage sheds with more modern GRP doors from Stormking. Their robust construction ensures a long life and low maintenance costs. They are made using a closed mould resin moulded technology and were specified in site trials.

Gap Ltd Hot success

Door panel manufacturer GAP has reported a 100% success rate for its Heat Shield technology. Since its launch earlier this year, the company has produced 5,000 door panels using the exclusive technology, and has had no returns for warping, bubbling or cracking due to heat absorption. Woodgrain finish door panels are said to be able to withstand dramatic temperature fluctuations.

The Wood Window Alliance (WWA) has received a major boost in the form of backing from timber window manufacturer, JELD-WEN. The WWA includes leading figures from the manufacturing and supply side of the timber windows industry who have agreed to promote timber windows as the natural and sustainable choice.

Omega Plc Two special anniversaries

Staff and managers at the Omega Group are celebrating two special anniversaries - the company's 20th and also their 10th year with Spectus. Managing director Rob Morley told Building Products that the key to the company's successful relationship with Pectus has been stability. 'The service and support we receive from Spectus and day-to-day dealings are impeccable,' he said.

Cooke Brothers It hinges on a glass door

Following the launch of its glass door hardware collection, architectural ironmongery manufacturer Cooke Brothers has increased the range to include other types of hinges, different sizes and finishes. The stainless steel hinges are available in three styles to complement its Phoenix Loadmaster, Slimline and Concealed Bearing ranges and are suitable for glass doors 10 to 12mm thick and weighing up to 80kg

Stormking Plastics ... and now for something

GRP building products maker Stormking has developed a trellis-style porchway in conjunction with David Wilson Homes, which it claims lives up to the description of 'something different'. The tellis porch is said to be easy to fix and comes with the benefits of prefabrication. There are no size disparities resulting from site assembly and no long term storage needs. Stormking provided all the components for the lattice frameworks including canopies, sills, posts and feature brackets.

Palgrave Brown Door choice

Over 500 door options and combinations are available from Palgrave Brown. This follows the company's timber doors being joined by a GRP range. The new products are said to offer advanced performance and low maintenance in a range of fully finished composite door sets, including frames, handles, letter plates, locks and thresholds. Each door has a wood grained effect finish but actually has a 2mm thermoset resin GRP skin.

Turnstyle Designs Ltd Cocoa to turn on the style

Described as a beautiful, dark and rich finish, Cocoa has been created from a composite blend of marbles and pigments. Recently launched by Turnstyle Designs, Cocoa is claimed to give a warm and varied finish that will work well in both traditional and contemporary settings. The product is pictured far right with Combination door levers and complemented with polished nickel metalwork. Cocoa is also said to work extremely well with the company's Dark Bronze metalwork. Turnstyle also says that: 'As well as being rich and beautiful, Cocoa is also extremely practical, it can be used indoors and outdoors and is a great match when used in conjunction with Chocolate leather.'

Eurocell Profiles Ltd Eurocell snaps up top business award

Eurocell Profiles has won the prestigious Derbyshire Business Awards. The Alfreton-based company was announced the winner from a shortlist of four finalists at a gala dinner at Chatsworth House. Eurocell impressed the judges with the way it managed to expand its business in an increasingly competitive market. Despite a general downturn in the market of 5.4 percent, Eurocell managed to increase its turnover by 10 per cent for 2005 - 2006. The company said last years performance was founded on 12 years of consistent growth.
