Tyco Thermal Controls Backbone for landlords gets installed at 1 fifty |
 Pyrotenax mineral-insulated (MI) cables have been installed for fire-rated applications in the striking new 19,000m2 landmark office development at 1fifty Cheapside, overlooking St Pauls Cathedral. Specified by Hilson Moran and installed by Haden Young as the backbone system for landlord services in the shell and core, Pyro MI is being employed in circuits for both life safety and fire fighting rated applications, as defined in BS7346-6 Specification for Cable Systems.
MI is recognised as the highest performing fire-rated cable technology and the Pyro MI cable has undergone Lloyds Register witness testing under the most stringent fire test methodology of BS 7346-6:2005 and successfully achieved the highest performance requirement of 120 minutes survival time for fire fighting systems. This ensures that it comes with an assurance for those responsible for cable specification and purchase that they are meeting the requirements of the Regulatory Reform Order (RRO) in regard to the material supply.

Bilco UK Ltd Bilco boosts Anchor Point |
 Access doors and vents manufacturer, Bilco UK, has delivered 13 smoke vents from its REM range to the Anchor Point development in the Bramall Quarter of Sheffield.
As part of the project Bilco supplied six NB-50REM, five FW-50REM and two HW-50REM smoke ventilators, which are installed on the rooftops.
The company told Building Products that three new buildings at Anchor Point have a smoke control system installed in case of fire. If smoke is detected the Bilco REM vents will automatically open above the various stairwells (including the fire escape stairwells) tha provide access to the buildings.

Hafele UK Ltd HAFELE extends range |
 A new range of protective clothing has been introduced by Häfele to extend its Essentials range.
The range which includes safety gloves in Kevlar makes up the 10th edition of their catalogue. The company said that busy sites are notoriously potentially dangerous places which is why it is introducing new lightweight safety gloves ion Kevlar that allow high levels of manual dexterity while providing protection from accidents.

Jackson Products Ltd Grip 'n Go cones |
 Personal and industrial safety manufacturer, Jackson Safety, has anounced the launch of a new Allsafe SMC brand: 'GRIP and GO Traffic Lane Marketing Safety Cone for motorways, car parks, restricted areas and the emergency services.
The new slim-line cone is described as a 1066mm tiered cone with an easy Grip-N-GO 1193mm to the handle top. The cones conform to NCHRP 350 standards.

Promat UK Ltd Fire protection specialists |
 Fire protection specialists, Promat, has acquired Cafco International for an undisclosed sum, it has been announced.
In a statement released after the acquisition was finalised Cafco said the agreement would widen both its product range and its geographical reach.
Over the years Cafco has built up a reputation in the field of sprayed solutions for structural fire protection, high temperature insulation and tunnel fire protection. Promat UK Managing Director John Stevenson said: 'This acquisition fits in well with Promat's strategy of diversification and growth with the field of passive fire protection and high temperature insulation.'
He added the inclusion of Cafco would provide strong synergies in product development and facilitate further expansion.

Royde & Tucker Ltd Fire door safety |
 High performance letterplate systems from Royde & Tucker are said to provide both fire, smoke and acoustic protection. The company said the systems meet the requirements set out in Part E and Part B of the Building Regulations.
The letterplate systems, which are suitable for fire doors rated to FD30s and FD60s, ensure the fire door integrity is maintained, protecting the occupants and property against smoke and fire damage.

Ansell Lighting Built in safety for restaurant |
 An Indian restaurant in Blackburn is yet another establishment to feature the Flamesafe fire rated downlights from Ansell Lighting.
The downlights ensure full compliance with the relevant Approved Documents of the Building Regulations legislation on lighting cut into a fire barrier. Ansell say the recessed low voltage downlights have also provided the needed sparkle to enhance the overall lighting scheme while also offering a chrome finish to provide an aesthetic appeal.
The company adds that the Flamesafe range has been designed to provide a solution for fire, acoustic and moisture prevention applications.

Kac Alarm Company Ltd Exit warnings |
 A directional sound technology which, after being triggered by the fire system, attracts people towards its source, has been introduced. The device, known as ExitPoint, is the brainchild of KAC. The units generate sound pulses of low, medium and high broadband noise that makes it possible for people to identify the location of the source.

Troax UK Limited Troax barriers ups JVC safety |
 A series of perimeter, conveyor and stairwell safety barriers have been introduced by Troax UK.
The barriers are designed to protect staff working on a three storey high series of mezzanine floors at JVC's national distributon facility in Staples Corner, North London.
As part of the project Troax used its Caelum wire mesh partitioning to create the three meter high safety barriers which enclose the perimeter of the ground floor and two mezzanine floors above which are used for the storage of electronic components.

Lafarge Plasterboard Ltd Mall drylined |
 Lafarge Plasterboard has supplied all the drylining requirements for the recently opened Jackson Square shopping centre extension in Bishops Stortford.
Conneely Drylining has installed Lafarge's Firecheck wall board throughout the 100,000 square foot retail mall, including the complex high ceiling. The mall features 8.5m high partitions which were constructed using the company's 146mm C Stud to achieve the necessary height and stability. These showcase telescopic deflection heads with fire umbrellas constructed on site to allow for the anticipated downward deflection.
The structural steel columns were fire protected using Lafarge's Cormet column and beam clip system. The system is simple to install and can provide up to 180 minutes fire protection.
