The tiles were installed throughout the split level bar areas by flooring contractor M&M Flooring as part of a refurbishment by the bar's new owners. The Expona collection has been specially developed to widen the horizons of creative interior design.

Measuring the percentage relative humidity of a subfloor has been made easier by a new digital hygrometer now available from F. Ball and Co. Requiring no elaborate preparation and calibration, the new hygrometer is supplied pre-calibrated and ready for immediate use. It comprises a foam insulating box with a digital measuring device and is simply taped to the floor, left for the appropriate period to reach equilibrium and then switched on for an instant, accurate reading. This clearly indicates the relative humidity of the floor and identifies the required remedial treatment - Stopgap F76 one-coat waterproof surface membrane for relative humidity up to 92% or Stopgap F75 two-coat waterproof surface membrane for relative humidity up to 98%.

Developments include the introduction of a new range of loose lay vinyl offering ease of installation, dimensional stability and superior aesthetics. The new LL300 range of tiles and planks is Gradus' latest addition to its collection of floorcovering solutions. TOLI is one of the ten largest commercial floorcoverings manufacturers in the world and this partnership reflects the Gradus Group’s commitment to offering its customer base a variety of product solutions. The LL30 range is designed for heavy traffic areas in retail and commercial premises. It is also quick and easy to lay, as little or no floor preparation is required. A loose tackifier is used to fit the tiles and planks to the sub-floor, saving both time and money while minimising disruption to the end-user.

Granwax Products has declared an active interest in the adhesive market by introducing DriTac to its range of environmentally-friendly flooring products. The company said DriTac 9200 and DriTac 7500 will complement its existing range of finishes and seals. Both DriTac 9200 and DriTac 7500 are solvent-free with low VOC’s and inhibit the growth of bacteria and mould. DriTac 9200 is predominantly for engineered flooring while DriTac 7500 is for use on solid wood strip and plank.

Prestige Homes has installed Slimdek – an engineered steel floor system from Corus using Comflor225, at its Zero 4 development in Plymouth. The move helped make a 12 week saving on a construction programme originally estimated at 108 weeks using alternative methods. Due to be completed in 2008, the Zero 4 development is a ten-storey residential development with ground-floor retail outlets providing 122 apartments ranging from one-bedroom studio flats up to three-bedroom duplex apartments in Plymouth city centre. Slimdek is an engineered floor solution comprising a hot rolled Asymmetric Slimflor beam (ASB) and ComFlor225 - a steel composite floor deck.

After receiving top marks for its work at the new campus for York College, specialist commercial flooring contractor, Phoenix Flooring has been awarded a prestigious place in main contractor Balfour Beatty's official supply chain. Phoenix was appointed to install various floor coverings throughout the new state of the art college building, including carpets, stud rubber and vinyl floors in the common areas and teaching facilities, with specialist semi-sprung floors in the sport and dance halls. G.P Davis and Son has installed Pulsar infloor into a newly converted warehouse, as part of The Great Bow Yard development in Somerset. The work forms part of a mixed-use development, which uses sustainable and ecological materials and methods to achieve a more environmentally friendly way of building and living.

Floorstyle 2008, a new exhibition for the flooring industry, will be launched at ExCeL, in London's Docklands next summer. The event will run from 29 June to 1 July. Organisers say Floorstyle is likely to attract over 100 exhibitors from the wood, laminate, vinyl, rubber and linoleum sectors, as well as suppliers of associated accessories, cleaning, fixing and maintenance products.
