Concrete paving products maker Hanson Formpave has published its latest brochure featuring distinctive ranges for driveways and patios . The extended brochure provides detailed information, drawings and photography and specifications for the company's Chartres, Clifton, Royal Forest and EcoGranite ranges. The company maintains that the Chartres combined modular paving range - designed to provide a distinguished and mature look - is one of the most popular ranges in the sector. The ability to create cost-effective long span floors that can be quickly installed is said to have seen TJ joists used to create a large industrial mezzanine floor. A part of the iLevel engineered wood floor system, the joists are more commonly found in new build residential and light commercial developments. The 18m x 12.2m mezzanine floor has been installed to create additional production space at a Bristol joinery company. The original floor designs called for sawn timber but the architects opted for TJI joists because of their flexibility.

The wards, corridors, shower rooms and sports flooring for the physiotherapy suite are described as warm and welcoming. A variety of flooring types was used including Tarasafe and Taraflex to create attractive, hygienic, easy-to-maintain and safe floors for all users, Trasafe is a slip resistant floor covering claimed to be ideal for use in within a high traffic hospital particularly where water maybe present and users could be unsteady on their feet. Taraflex Sport M+ which is said by Gerflor to offer comfort, performance and great shock absorption was the choice for the physiotherapy suite.

Stopgap 900 DPM-Prep special purpose underlayment from F Ball has been used to help overcome the problem of damp floors at the Seafield Hospital in Buckie, Aberdeenshire. Carpet was replaced with a vinyl floor covering through out all main corridors and a large dining room. However, the concrete sub-floors had high levels of residual moisture which required the application of Stopgap F75 waterproof surface membrane. Before its application, the subfloor had to be made level and this was achieved with the use of Stopgap 900 DPM-Prep. Walk-on hardness took just 90 minutes.

Speed and simplicity are said to be central to Tremco illbruck's latest offering for the contract flooring industry, Treadfast Kwiklay is a reinforced PVC underlay that provides a moisture resistant barrier across a variety of substrates. It is supplied in 25 metre rolls of 1.45 metre width which are loose laid across the floor. The material is cut into the wall all around the perimeter and the joints butted together before being sealed with waterproof tape. Critical to its performance is the presence of resin peduncles on the underside which raises the fibreglass membrane of the sub floor.

Home cellar company Spiral Cellars has chosen leading access doors and vents manufacturer Bilco to supply its TER floor door to wine cellars across the UK. Spiral Cellars install watertight cylindrical systems that are sunk into the ground allowing wine storage space of up to 1,600 bottles. The floor doors provided by Bilco are 898 x 1500mm in size and are designed with a pan cover to accept a variety of flooring materials up to 25 mm in thickness. This allows the cellar doors to be hidden in the floor and allows it to be placed in any room in the house. Simon Shand-Brown, sales and marketing manager at Bilco, said: 'A key distinguishing characteristic of a Bilco floor door is the way it operates. Each door is engineered to provide smooth, easy and controlled operation, even when filled with york stone or ceramic tiles'. Features that come as standard include a positive hold open arm that engages automatically when the door leaf is fully open, heavy duty hinges and a stainless steel slam lock with removable top-side handle They also feature anti-corrosion hardware. TER floor doors are constructed of 6.35 mm aluminium diamond pattern plate and built to withstand a 732 kg/m² live load.
