Dulux Trade Restoring former glory

Fleet Hall Contractors has joined forces with Granta Housing Society and Dulux Trade to return the award winning Queensway Flats in Cambridge to its former glory. The flats original vivid colour scheme has been restored with the help of Dulux Trade's colour services. Dulux was tasked with matching the exact colours using its paint analysis facility. By taking colour samples the company individually re-created each colour to the housing society's precise specification and original colour tone.

The major problem was of carbon staining on the exterior of the pebbledash render which is a result ofthe towns history and growth based on coalming and heavy industry. Since these industries have been declining St. Helens has been developing new industries while also introducing rejuvenation programmes. Keim Mineral Paints say that Heleba Housing Association has completed a 4-year paint programme with Keim Mineral Paints. The programme involved a number of the Association's buildings being refurbished in order to promote well being and boost area pride.

Keim Mineral Paints Limited Concrete on glasgow centres gets coated

When the University of Glasgow opted to expand and create two buildings for its medical research centre, Keim Mineral Paints was specified to provide the coatings for the outer walls of the new cardiovascular and biomedical research centres. The company's Concretal Lasur is said to have been used on the new concrete walls of the atrium in order to harmonise the finish of the exposed concrete whilst retaining the natural look and feel of the concrete as a feature of the atrium design. With the highly sensitive nature of the work undertaken in the centre, it was also important to minimise disruption from general maintenance and Keim's extreme long life performance is said to ensure reduced repainting cycles as well as whole life costing benefits. Keim Concretal Lasur is a low pigmentation colour stain and is available in a wide range of shades which can be used when an opaque treatment would be out of keeping with the concrete aesthetics. It is able to unify variations in colour and texture of concrete, whilst retaining its look. The long life nature of the paint, say Keim, is derived from the chemical crystalline bond which the paint forms with the substrate, maintaining breathability, whilst withstanding exposure to severe weather conditions. It is said to be resistant to algae and mould growth, completely lightfast, inherently non-combustible and environmentally friendly, being odourless, solvent and VOC-free, and made using only natural materials.

Knauf Drywall First aid for walls

Patchwall 45, the plaster repair kit from Knauf Drywall, is emerging as the number one choice for repairs to plastered and rendered walls, according the manufacturers. The plaster is said to be fast setting and tough, and Knauf claim that it is especially ideal for making good after changes to plumbing, electrical and window installations or other fixtures and fittings. Specially formulated for quick repairs, the Patchwall 45 is a fast-drying gypsum plaster. Suitable for one coat applications from 2mm to 20mm thick, it is designed for optimum adhesion.

This one-stop-shop resource will be reflected on the company's stand in the Unimer showcase area of the show, where it will exhibit the range of high-performance building boards, fibre cement Weatherboards, and profiled roofing sheets. The company's clay plain tiles range, including the new line up of Acme in single and double-camber options, will feature alongside established ranges such as Ashdowne and Hawkins. Marley Eternit's range of fibre cement building boards includes a moisture resistant tile backing board, an external grade sheet suitable for soffits and fascias and a flat moisture resistant render board. Fibre cement acts as a substrate for the low-maintenance Weatherboard which is available in a variety of colours and wood stains for a New England look for domestic and non-domestic use.

Polycell Trade PRA reveals coating results

Independent Tests at the PRA Coating Technology Centre are said to have shown that Polycell Trade Interior and Exterior Polyfilla have outperformed their rivals when it comes to good preparation. The centre blind tested a range of fillers on criteria including consistency and ease of application, even-ness of set and smoothness, finish after painting and adhesion. The scores across each criteria were totalled and the duo came out on top, next to comparative products.
