Concrete paving products maker Hanson Formpave has published its latest brochure featuring distinctive ranges for driveways and patios .
The extended brochure provides detailed information, drawings and photography and specifications for the company's Chartres, Clifton, Royal Forest and EcoGranite ranges.
The company maintains that the Chartres combined modular paving range - designed to provide a distinguished and mature look - is one of the most popular ranges in the sector. It is available in five colours.
Durable aluminium rainwater systems from Marley's Alutrek range are said to be providing a cost-effective solution to a number of properties as part of a housing refurbishment project in Manchester.
Designed specifically for cast iron replacement or to give a traditional feel to a new building, the range is also said to be ideal for conservation areas as the ogee gutters offer an aesthetic, decorative profile.
The system in Manchester was specified in heritage black, a particular textured black polyester powder coating, which is designed to emulate the appearance of cast iron.
The restoration of a 17th century Grade II listed manor house has included bespoke single glazed sash windows from Mumford and Wood's Conservation Historic Box Sash range. Recent investment in specialist tooling enabled the window manufacturer to provide developers with the single glazed windows for the historically sensitive Lawton Hall in Cheshire, as an alternative from the double glazed factory-finished product that the Conservation range usually offers. Over 500 period windows and doors were produced over a 14 month delivery schedule for the project, which includes the conversion of Lawton Hall into luxury apartments, and also the supply of double glazed windows from the Conservation range for new build homes around the estate.
Daylight is being piped into the windowless bathrooms and stairwells of new build homes in Salford, Manchester using Solatube Daylighting Systems from Solalighting.
With no maintenance or running costs, the system captures the maximum amount of daylight using a patented lens and LightTracker reflector technology within a roof mounted dome. This daylight is then 'bounced' down a 99.7% super-reflective tube to deliver daylight to the rooms below.
A 250mm diameter Solartube system illuminates each bathroom with natural daylight, while also incorporating a bathroom ventilation kit with a powerful in-line extractor fan.
Pupils at a Preston primary school may have been disappointed that solvent-free Kemperol cold liquid waterproofing was used to repair their leaking roof, for it meant that classes went ahead without disruption and the expected 'day-off', had a traditional solution been used never materialised.
Supplied by Kemper System, BBA-certified Kemperol 2K-PUR is believed to be the UK's only solvent free cold liquid waterproofing. It is applied wet-on-wet, which means projects are completed more quickly and, because there are no laminations it is has an expected working life of 25 years.
Fairfax House, an office building, in the heart of Leeds’ commercial district, has been equipped with Decadex - a hardwearing exterior wall coating from Liquid Plastics.
The building was undergoing a refurbishment programme. Part of the scheme was to give the dull 4,000 metre square rendered walls a much needed facelift. The new wall coating, however, needed to provide more than just good looks for the 1970s building. It had to be durable and hardwearing, offering years of maintenance-free service. It also needed to be a high build product, capable of covering the thick layer of sharp Canterbury Spa red aggregate.
Liquid Plastics’ Decadex, a waterborne exterior wall coating, which is seven times stronger than traditional paint, was used in two contrasting shades of grey to completely change the external look of the building.
Decadex forms a resistant, matt and durable elastomeric finish which tolerates substrate movement. The system is designed to provide decorative protection in the most aggressive conditions for at least 10 years.
Decadex is claimed to have many advantages as an exterior wall coating because it provides protection against the affects of carbonation in reinforced concrete.
It also retains a bright, clean, attractive appearance throughout its design life and will not embrittle with age or exposure to UV light. The product also conatains an active fungistatic system.
Retail project management specialist Barlows has implemented Asta Powerproject Enterprise software for its roll-out store refurbishment projects.
Using precise project management, the software ensures Barlows can schedule a store refit with as little disruption to trading hours as possible. It also helps Barlows manage and forecast demands on time, labour and resources across all projects at the same time.
A number of McDonalds have been fitted out using the technology.
Three former council tower blocks in Manchester have been given a multi-million pound face-lift with help from Accent Kitchens. Working with property developers Urban Splash on the "Three Towers" refurbishment near the city centre, Accent has supplied bespoke kitchen designs, custom-made to a contemporary, stylish specification.
The kitchens specialist has also created a centre in Bradford which enables it to develop mock-up kitchens in accordance with any design or requirement.
'This allows all of our clients to come and have a look at the layout and style of the kitchens and enables them to make any changes to meet the needs of their building,' says Andrew Robinson, national sales manager for Accent Kitchens UK. 'Once this has been completed we then re-create the kitchens in all the dwellings.'
