Hatches supplied by Bilco are providing access to roofs of a new waterside development of apartments and townhouses in Glasgow.
The external finishes combine render, timber laminate, brick cladding and red brick and all the homes have aluminium rooms. Topping them all are Bilco hatches which provide access to the roof for future maintenance not just for the immediate surface, but also of the roof-mounted aerials and satellite dishes.
The company has supplied a total of 24 NB50 hatches manufactured in 2.3mm thick aluminium to match the roofing and fitted with compression springs which make them easy to open. They are also fitted with automatic hold-open arms which ensure the hatches cannot be blown closed.
A housing association in Scotland is specifying Ferroli's new solar hot water heating system as part of a renewable energy initiative.
Rutherglen & Cambuslang Housing Association is investing in a complete solar combi package which combines Ferroli's Optimax HE 31kW condensing combi boiler and AquaSol storage cylinder with the latest slimline solar roof panels.
The solar systems have been successfully installed in 52 of the Housing Association's terraced and semi-detached properties. In full summer, water in the AquaSol cylinder may be hot enough to supply the DHW demand without the need to be topped up by the boiler.

The Beatson Oncology Centre in Glasgow has been granted a new home, with the help of Ash & Lacy Ashzip technology.
The centre, which forms the largest non-Public private partnership hospital contract in Scotland, is the second largest cancer centre in the UK and the lead centre for the delivery of non-surgical cancer care in Scotland.
Over 2,500m² of Ashzip plain mill aluminium and silver galvanised Ashfab flashing was chosen to create the dual-pitched roof for the project. George Talbot of Topek (BUR) Ltd revealed that they had chosen Ash & Lacy over other recommended suppliers, due to their consistently high product quality and ease of use, along with exceptional after-sales service; 'We use Ash & Lacy for 90% of all our roofing projects.'
An Ashzip standing seam roof offers high aesthetic values, as well as outstanding weathertightness, both of which were compulsory for such a scheme. Plain mill finish aluminium demonstrates excellent durability and stability, lasting the life of the building with no maintenance work required. The plan for the Centre is based on detailed analyses of cancer trends, predicting that the incidence of the disease is set to rise by 5% per year.

Eurocell has launched IQ750, a modular low-pitch roof system. This intelligently designed product with 750mm glazing bar centres is said to become the smart choice for installers.
The design of the new product involved a complete re-think of how modular roofs are currently supplied and fitted. The result is a 'smart' roof with many features that offer benefits for installers and homeowners.
IQ750 is available in 750mm modular sizes, so it can be fitted much more quickly. Due to the fact that all the components are cut to size and pre-drilled, it eliminates the need for additional work on site.
The product uses lightweight but strong 32mm Polycarbonate that achieves a U-value of 1.4, providing a high level of energy efficiency. Opal Polycarbonate helps to diffuse the light that filters into a conservatory, giving a soft warm feeling to the room. Bronze Polycarbonate is also available as an option.
The structural aluminium support provides extra strength, enabling French doors to be fitted to the side.
