The prominent 19000m² corporate office development overlooks St Pauls Cathedral in London. The presence-based lighting control scheme, specified by consultants Hilson Moran, encompasses eight floors of offices and core areas. The company said this is required to maximise energy savings and contribute to the building’s excellent BREEAM rating.

Stannah Lift Services, based in Glasgow, have installed a bespoke scenic passenger lift into Edinburgh Waverley Station. The Stannah 16 person hydraulic lift provides access from the central level to the new Platforms 1 and 20 below. This bespoke lift was designed by Stannah specifically for its unique location and has been built to Network Rail specifications. The fully automatic lift car moves within a glass-clad structure, supported by a steel framed shaft. It provides a scenic view over the station that sits adjacent to Princes Street, Edinburgh.

News just in from Redring: The shower specialist has unveiled its new all chrome Select Mixer, a thermostatic shower with a ‘Patent Pending’ through the ceiling water connection which, the company says, fits to virtually every possible type and style of plumbing system, at any pressure from 0.1 to 10.0 Bar. In a statement sent to Building Products, Redring explained that quick and easy installation comes as standard, with only two fixings required and no need to hack out tiled walls. The Select Mixer is said to be perfect for replacing existing showers. By utilising the riser rail to route the hot and cold supplies through the ceiling the shower is said to have one of the quickest installation times on the market.

Architects working on a new apartment building in London have utilised the strength and style of steel to create a striking screen enclosing its circulation areas. The Consort Road scheme in Peckham has been built for Presentation Housing Association, by Hilife Construction, the main contractor, with Walter Menteth Architects as the lead consultant on the project. Ravenheat has launched its Energycatcher, an environmentally friendly unit which can reduce cutomers' gas bills. While modern boilers are increasingly efficient, one source of waste heat and pollution that has not so far been addressed is the heat which escapes through the boilers' flue. With the boiler running, flue gases can reach up to 60ºC. Energycatcher catches the gases and flow them over a heat exchanger. The 'waste' heat is transferred to the water and reused.

Newark-based installer of impact-absorbing play surfacing, Playtop, has launched a range of three-dimensional shapes called Playtop Spheres. Inspired by a project at the Guggenheim Museum, which used Playtop wet-pour surfacing, the rubber surfaces are said to be ideal for adding a 3D shape to play areas in parks, gardens and urban spaces. The spheres are available in three sizes (350, 450 and 600mm) and are fixed to the ground using an anchor. Each ball is covered with Playtop rubber granulate from a range of over 20 colours.
