Eco Heat pumps are helping to combine luxury living with a 'green' approach at a beachside development in Cornwall
A geothermal system will draw heat from the boreholes sunk into granite to supply underfloor heating and up to 2000 litres of hot water to the project.
The Eco system is designed around two of thecompany's Duo Heat Pumps. Said to ideal for this type of dwelling the Thermia Duo is intended for use with a separate hot water tank. Units are claimed to be economical and reliable in operation and incorporates quiet running scroll-type compressors to give outputs between 4-16kW. No inlet or outlet valves are used in this type of compressor.
Bradstone Structural has responded to the demand from the house building industry for sustainable products by extending its portfolio to include Environmasonry.
The range of aggregate masonry has an 'A' certification from the Building Research Establishment's (BRE) Environmental Profiles Scheme. This allows architects and specifiers to design sustainable homes with confidence.
Environmasonry provides a wide range of sustainable products to help specifiers achieve the highest rating in sustainable construction without changing construction technique, as specified in the Code for Sustainable Homes.
Reduced running costs are said to be just one of the benefits of installing Vision radiant tube heaters from AmbiRad in a large space building in Cheshire.
The existing system, despite consuming a considerable amount of gas, could not adequately heat the premise. In terms of economy, effectiveness, comfort and zoning capabilities the AmbiRad Vision fitted the bill. The range is said to have one of the highest efficiency ratings for radiant tube heaters, and is the only range of its kind listed on the government's Energy Technology Listing, making it eligible for Enhanced Capital Allowances.
The introduction of Desire, the first pebble bed option in Robinson Willey's Super Eco inset LF gas fires, is setting the desires of energy efficient homebuilders alight.
Alongside three existing coal effect models, Desire boasts an advanced burner system that delivers 68% heat efficiency, and 4.0kW heat output.
A deep bed heat engine also provides a flame picture and glow. Unlike other Super Eco inset models, Desire features an integral stainless steel exterior trim, and a top positioned slider heat control fitted as standard.

Solar electric roof tiles from Solarcentury, lightweight and designed to lock together for easy installation, will be on show at Interbuild. Thirty six of the tiles will produce 1,500 units (kWh) each year, enough to power over a third of the average sized three bed home saving over 19 tonnes of CO2 emissions over its 25 year guarantee.
Solarcentury are now offering a series of courses to help operatives develop the skills and knowledge they need to install solar pv systems correctly.

A Sittingbourne, Kent school is believed the first to benefit from Solarcentury's Solar4Schools initiative under phase two of the Department for Trade & Industry's Low Carbon Building Programme .
As a result of a £10,000 Dti grant Fulston Manor School has a 4kWp installation of Solarcentury's solar photovoltaic modules on its roof generating 3,300 kWh of electricity and is now said to be saving over two tonnes of carbon dioxide every year, for half the price it otherwise would have to pay .
As part of the installation a monitor allows pupils, staff and visitors to see how much electricity is being generated as well as how much the system has generated in its lifetime and how much of a C0² saving this equates to.
Fernox have launched a new descaler and sludge remover for domestic central heating systems, which it claims will help reduce fuel wastage and increase efficiency.
Combined of the DS-40 descaler and the Superconcentrate system cleaner, the DS-40 System Cleaner dissolves oxide sludge and limescale and is universally compatible. One container is sufficient to de-scale up to ten radiators.
A school art block in Harrow has been transformed by the Sheerframe System from LB Plastics. The project at Weldon Park School, completed by fenestration contractor Radway, involved the replacement of single glazed windows that meant the art block was susceptible to seasonal temperature variations.
The PVC window and curtain walling for the building offers thermal efficiency, as the double glazed units are created using the Sheerframe 7000 system which is said to deliver a continuous indoor temperature.
The Sheerframe grid system also features its own drainage, and thermal break elements.
Lighting specialist Simmtronic has been commissioned to supply its SPECS3 lighting control systems for a refurbishment project at One Exchange Square.
For energy saving, the perimeter lights dim in response to daylight and the interior lights to presence, and office occupants can take advantage of telephone switching, a feature that allows them to control the lighting above their work station through the telephone.
Condensing boiler manufacturer Buderus has claimed that the newest addition to its commercial range is "a boiler for all occasions". The floor-standing GB312 is, it says, highly efficient and environmentally friendly, and particularly suitable for installation into existing heating systems.
The range includes six GB312 models with outputs ranging from 90kW - 280kW, and features an aluminium condensing heat exchanger that maximises efficiency even when heat demand is low, as the boiler can modulate down to 30% of full capacity.
The burner is linked to a digital Energy Management System (EMS) which continually monitors the system's heat requirements so that energy is not wasted when demand for heat drops.
Intelligent control options and the EMS ensure synchronisation between boiler and heating system and the result is a price/performance ratio that should reduce fuel consumption and return initial investment costs.
