Meeting the stringent Factory Mutual insurance regulations on fire safety and wind uplift, a 3,000m2 roof from Ruberoid has been installed as part of a factory extension for a Midlands print plant. The Modiflex modified bitumen roofing system was chosen as it required no mechanical fixings to secure it to the substrate. This eliminated the risk of mechanical fixings causing a cold bridge through the insulation layer, allowing condensation to form and drip onto the equipment below. The fact that the system can be adhered also helped the roofing to meet the FM global requirements in terms of fire protection.
