Designing a building with a central glazed atrium at Silverstone, Architect Cube Design has utilised a shading system from Levolux to prevent solar heat gain.
For the two storey atrium that rolls over the top of the building, 5m long, single piece aluminium fins that fit into a tubular structure were specified. Also installed were a series of 0.4m wide by 5m long aluminium extruded fins between circular hollow steel sections at the end of the building, providing protection to the atria.
Shading the windows, the company installed its Matrix, Brise Soleil shading system. Projecting horizontally out, this system eliminates solar heat gain whilst ensuring views are not obstructed.
The company worked with Cube Design to ensure its Matrix system blended seamlessly with the building to create a flowing canopy around the building. The products can be produced in a variety of different finishes.
