Specified for St Stephen's Deacon and Martyr Parish Church in Chicago, Burlington has provided Broughton Moor stone to reflect the aesthetics of the Catholic theology of worship.
Chosen for durability over potentially many centuries, the stone has been used as flooring in the inner sanctuary area in lengths of eight to 32 inches and widths of eight to 16 inches. The steps into the sanctuary feature 1/2 inch thick step treads and rises.
It has been combined with cherry stained rift oak on the crucifix, altar and pews, as well as being utilised in the ambo and baptismal pool. The tabernacle base recessed into three steps on the left of the altar features the stone as well, successfully combining the use of stone and wood.
