Some 3000m of Kalzip 50/429 sheets have been specified for the roof of the new National Assembly for Wales building. Utilising three dimensional computer aided design (CAD), the company demonstrated that the roof could be created using aluminium standing seam.
The use of CAD allowed the installers to determine the required size and quantity of the sheets. It also allowed for the sheets, all of which were in different sizes, to be continuously manufactured.
Its weathering and durability properties were suitable for the marine conditions of Cardiff Bay. The roof structure also features a range of the company's fabrications including curved flashings and welded bullnoses.
To reduce the building's overall energy consumption, the company's Insulation Plus 35 was specified to assist effective thermal performance.
