After outgrowing its South London base, Neal's Yard Remedies decided to move to Dorset, allowing it to be closer to its source of ingredients.
Its new building reflects the company's philosophy, incorporating a number of sustainable features, uncluding a wall of unfired Cattybrook clay bricks from Ibstock.
The bricks are incorporated into the internal wall of the refectory, and are finished with a clay plaster. Their thermal mass dampens temperature fluctuations in the refectory and also help regulate indoor air quality by absorbing and releasing moisture.
Following this application, Ibstock is looking for further opportunities for dried clay blocks as part of a sustainable approach.
