Installed at the Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Museum is Plexineon by the Lights Projects Group, a solid plastic linear LED system.
Supplied by the company, 64 lengths of Plexineon Blue form a circle under the glass floor to highlight the interactive exhibits. The museum was designed by Mather and Company with DHA Designs lighting consultants.
The product comprises a solid plastic waveguide with the LEDs encapsulated within, which results in a bright uniform glow across the entire length. Ensuring the brightness level is high, the fitting has a similar appearance to the traditional neon lamp but operates at a fraction of the maintenance and running costs. An IP rating of 66 makes the product water-resistant as well.
Available in six colours, as well as three temperatures of white, it is also shatterproof and runs at a cool temperature.
