Launched just over a month after the Health & Safety Executive (HSE) began its 'Height Aware' campaign, Lafarge Roofing has introduced the Redland safety hook system.
Combining a fall-arrest anchor, ladder hook and crawling board clamp, the Redland system can be used as a structural anchorage point for safety belts and harnesses, as well as to safely attach roof ladders and support-work platforms.
A body harness is simply clicked in to safely arrest and accidental falls at the eaves, verges or over the ridge.
Laboratory tests have ensured the system is capable of taking a single 2.6kN static load with an EN355 energy-absorber harness. It is manufactured from galvanised steel and secured by stainless steel fixings.
The Redland safety hook system is supplied as a five-component kit to fit directly within pitched roofing rafters by 100mm wide rafter brackets, connected by a fixing rail. It is compatible with a wide range of slates and tiles from the Redland range.
