Damp penetration at the roof level of Latham House has been overcome by using the physical dpc installation method from Dampcoursing.
Initially it was difficult to determine the reason for damp penetrating the housing association property in Tower Hamlets, but it was found that the render was in a state of disrepair, allowing water to penetrate the blockwork. The blocks acted as a sponge, when they became saturated, dampness penetrated the flats below.
Using specialist cutting equipment operatives from Dampcoursing cut a groove along the length of the blockwork and inserted the new dpc with a mortar bed and strategic packing.
Code 4 lead was the material used for the dpc and an acrylic joint was also used, to ensure an effective installation.
