 Emergency evacuation chair company Evac+Chair has provided the University of Wales in Newport with an evacuation solution for the mobility impaired.
The chairs, which carry out a controlled descent down the stairs at an angle of 40 degrees, were installed at various points across the university's two campuses.
Evac+Chairs can carry a payload of up to 150kg but are said to be lightweight and, with the correct training, easy to operate. The company also offers rental packages on chairs, for an affordable alternative.
Wayne Jones, the university's Health and Safety officer, said: 'Evac+Chair gives us peace of mind. We now know that everyone can be safely evacuated in an emergency.
