Solarcentury's Complete SolarRoof system is being used at a new Barratt homes development near Northampton. The system consists of Solarcentury's C21e solar photovoltaic panels for electricity generation, and the company's C21t solar thermal tiles for water heating. Both are 'integrated tiles', replicating the appearance of traditional roof tiles and providing ease of installation. They replace four traditional tiles and are attached to roof battens in the conventional manner. A typical Complete Solar Roof can supply over 60 per cent of the hot water requirements for a three bedroom home, and generate 100kW of electricity a year per mē. This can amount to 50 per cent of the electrical needs of a three bedroom household, with excess electricity being sold back to the grid.
