The Work at Height Regulations are driving the use of small powered access machines. This is confirmed by AFI-Uplift which says it has seen a rapid increase in demand from companies wanting to hire this type of equipment. The company has supplied 12 Pop-Up machines and three Skyjack scissors lifts to a company installing fire prevention and alarm systems at the Bankside 2/3 development.
Hunt Building Services has made use of scissor lifts hired from AFI Aerial Platforms to carry out mechanical and electrical installation work at a new Instore distribution centre at Huddersfield. Hunt has used six scissor lifts, on a five month hire, to provide high level access for installing lighting, trunking and ductwork in the new centre. A range of 5390 and 9250 scissors were selected to enable contractors to work safely at heights of over 15m.
