Increasing the effectiveness of its access control procedures, the Solicard 6000 electronic access control system from ASSA is being used by the Royal Berkshire Fire & Rescue Services. Installed by Smiths Security Services in Reading, the system is being used to restrict access to around 700 authorised personnel and 300 approved visitors throughout the station network. The 30 control units are modem-linked and use Magstripe card technology. Some 80 card readers are currently in use. The Solicard 6000 is suitable for multi-building installations and remote sites. It is also capable of full integration with other building management systems.
