Energy efficient radiant tubing produced by Ambi-Rad has been installed at a sports hall and gymnasium at a leisure complex in Crawley.
Nor-Ray-Vac continuous radiant tube heating systems provide background warmth in the sports hall and gymnasium. Designed and fitted by Emcor Group, the system comprises of 12 NRV 32LR burners, covering the entire floor area of the sports hall, and four NRV 32LR burners in the gym.
The product provides low intensity warmth with rapid heat-up and heat recovery as well as low noise, making it particularly suitable for sports facilities. Sports England's Optimum Sports Hall template can be met with this type of heating.
In sports facilities, heating must be close controlled to ensure comfort for spectators and players. The product provides this because the physical properties of radiant heat mean it can be set to a lower constant temperature than other systems to achieve the same comfort levels, the company claims. This results in energy cost savings.
An Olympic standard indoor cycle track, the Wales National Velodrome is being kept warm with a Nor-Ray- Vac continuous radiant tube heating system from Ambi-Rad. Over the steeply banked track and badminton courts of the main area, a total of 16 Nor-Ray-Vac burners, each with an output of 46kW, were installed 10m above floor level. The seating area is warmed by three 35kW linear radiant tubes. Radiant offers the benefit of warming up rapidly so that athletes and spectators feel warm within minutes, and little fuel is consumed.
