Fire detectors from Apollo Technology have been applied to a new urban village for students in Lincoln.
The company's Discovery range was specified for the project. Features of the range include automatic drift compression, self-monitoring that rejects transient alarms, and five programmable settings that allow the sensor sensitivity to be matched to specific requirements.
Each accommodation block is equipped with an independent fire alarm control panel. The main block houses a bespoke 500 zone LED reporting station that is coupled with a scaled site plan. Approximately 1700 Discovery devices have been installed.
Introducing an Integrated Base Sounder to its range of loop-powered sounder products, Apollo has combined a detector mounting base and sounder in a single moulded unit.
The product offers two tone ranges with a low range 55-75dB model as a staff warning alarm in hospitals and nursing homes, and a high range 75-91dB that complies with EN54-3 requirements for fire detection and alarm systems.
Features include individual or group addressing, as well as synchronisation of 'alert' and 'evacuate' tones where multiple devices are used. It also has an acoustic self-test facility that can be used during installation and maintenance.
