Specified for the construction of a decking area at The Red Lion, Silkstone, South Yorkshire, Arbordeck is adding its own piece of history. The 17th century stonebuilt pub - the setting of the government inquest into the Huskar Pit Disaster of 1838 - now has a 3.5m by 11m contemporary style decking area. A simple design has converted an area of sloping land into outdoor space, creating a secure and accessible environment for families or those with disabilities or mobility challenges. The deck comprises grooved deck boards, stop chamfered balustrading and stepped access, with a gently inclining timber ramp to one side. It is an effective solution for uneven land, as boards can be fitted to supports rather than directly into the ground and the material offers flexability making it easy to install.
