The refurbishment of a high-rise housing block in Edmonton, London has included aluminium windows and doors from Beaufort Secure Design. The company's aluminium system replaces timber frames, providing a durable solution resistant to corrosion and discolouration, requiring simplistic wash and wipe cleaning. The product also offers high levels of thermal efficiency. The number of products used on the project amounted to 441 externally glazed aluminium window units and side screens, 172 double doors for balconys, and 10 entrance doors. A classic casement window style was specified from the 70mm deep direct fix outer frame system, with slimline transoms.

Fabricated from the Beaufort Secure Design system, 149 aluminium windows as well as residential doors have been specified for two blocks of flats on Uxbridge Road, Middlesex. The 70mm direct fix, tilt and turn aluminium windows in a brown Syntha Pulvin colour coated finish were employed. The exact colour choice was available as the company offers some 500 finishes in its range. The product was selected not only for its ease of cleaning, but also because the gearing was able to accommodate the extra weight of the glass used for windows at the front of the building. Traffic meant that glass with specialist acoustic properties was chosen to reduce noise pollution. Additionally, the doors on the ground floor are laminated for extra security.

The aluminium profiles met the project?s aesthetic and performance standards, combining a slimline appearance with durability and thermal efficiency.

Aluminium windows and doors from Beaufort have been selected for a new build and refurbishment at a London local authority project in Lission Green Estate, Westminster. Three blocks were refurbished, while a new community centre and block were built. In line with the new buildings, aluminium direct fix casement 28mm sealed units were fitted. For safety and to reduce noise levels, the windows are internally glazed with 6.4mm laminated low-E glass. Frames for the new build areas of the project were powder coated in a grey Syntha Pulvin finish. The refurbished windows are in white. Over 900 windows have been installed at the Estate, as well as more than 50 double doors with multipoint hook bolt locks.

Horizontal sliding aluminium windows from Beaufort Secure Design have been installed at a school in Jersey. The HS windows replace steel frames in the school?s dining hall and were specified in a two panel sliding format.

Replacement aluminium windows and doors from Beaufort Secure Design have been installed at the Holiday Inn, Southampton. Cristal Superline Products (CSP) completed the fabrication and installation of nearly 500 frames in a white powder coated finish at the nine-storey hotel. The new aluminium windows replace a mix of single glazed aluminium and pvc-u fenestration. CSP has also installed four-panel patio doors fabricated from the Beaufort system, which lead onto the hotel?s terrace from the restaurant. The local planning department stipulated that the new windows should match the existing frames as closely as possible. With its slim profile, aluminium offered a solution and, being a strong and rigid material, it could also satisfy the high wind loading requirements of the large window area. Heavy duty direct fix outer frames with top hung restricted openers were specified for the project, together with a tilt and turn option for the staircase and landing windows. The glazing includes 4mm grey tinted glass.
