Access doors and vents manufacturer, Bilco UK, has delivered 13 smoke vents from its REM range to the Anchor Point development in the Bramall Quarter of Sheffield.
As part of the project Bilco supplied six NB-50REM, five FW-50REM and two HW-50REM smoke ventilators, which are installed on the rooftops.
The company told Building Products that three new buildings at Anchor Point have a smoke control system installed in case of fire. If smoke is detected the Bilco REM vents will automatically open above the various stairwells (including the fire escape stairwells) tha provide access to the buildings.
Residents at Queen Mary, University of London, are being protected by automatic smoke vents from access door and vents manufacturer, Bilco.
Some 14 double leaf Lumivent automatic smoke vents were specified for the Westfield Student Village. A pitch style design, it minimises burning embers settling on the cover and have enhanced thermal insulation.
Multi-wall polycarbonate covers maximise light transmittance while limiting solar heat gain. Each vent offers a vent area of 2.23m with the product activated by a fire alarm interface and break glass system. The system can be reset remotely by a switch with the company's smoke vents acting as 'stand alone' units.
