Cladding panels made by Blanc de Bierges have been used by a Dutch housing association in a major refurbishment project involving 34 terraced houses. Natural stone cladding proved prohibitive because of the need for a wide variety of three-dimensional shapes in multiple sizes. Therefore the designers proposed the company's cladding panels due to their three-dimensional product options and durability. Overall, 507.18m? of the specially-reinforced cladding panels were specified for the scheme. All of the company's products have a low water absorption of 3.8%. However, 50mm thick panels are reinforced with marine grade 316 stainless steel, which means that whole life costs are lowered.
