Some 630m of French Oak flooring has been laid and finished with Bona Traffic lacquer as part of a conversion project in Leicester. The flooring, for an indian restaurant in Leicester, was manufactured by Billinghay Sawmill with 150mm Ash planks fitted to corridors. Brown Oak planks with borders in Rustic White Oak and a central decorative panel of Burr Oak was fitted in the main restaurant. Colour Variation 175mm Oak boards were used around the bar area.

Home to Plymouth Gin, the Black Friars Distillery in Plymouth has had its old oak floors restored with BonaKemi finishes for wooden floors. The building, the oldest working distillery in England, dates back to the 1400?s when in was a monastery inhabited by the Black Friars. Its recent refurbishment has included fitting reclaimed pine floors in the first floor restaurant areas and sanding back and sealing the oak floors in the atrium and bonded distilling room, which date back to the 1860?s. The project proved challenging as the use of large 240 volt sanding machines was prohibited in the distilling room to avoid the risk of sparks coming into contact with the distilled alcohol. Small 110 volt belt sanders and palm sanders were used instead. The floor was sanded using Bona?s Zirconium Mix abrasives working gradually from 60 to 100 grit and finishing with a Screen to remove grain raising. One coat of Bona Prime was then applied followed by three coats of Bona Traffic.
