Dry access between buildings
Covered walkways have been installed all around Uffculme School, Birmingham by Brett Martin Daylight Systems to provide dry outdoor corridors linking the detached school buildings and classrooms. Over 100 Xlok Express monopitched panels have been installed, all glazed using 16mm clear multiwall polycarbonate with UV protection. The glazing panels were manufactured in 12 bespoke shapes and sizes with widths varying between 0.83 and 1.0m and lengths from 1.5 to 5.0m. To meet the specification the polyester powder coated green and blue and colour matched to the supporting structural steelwork. Xlok Express is a factory assembled, panellised glazing that is designed for fast installation. The system?s glazing panels can be linked to create a run of any length or angled to form the required roof configuration. As well as being suitable for external walkways and dry play areas, the panel system is also suitable for northlights, large area patent glazing applications and rooflights.
