External timber cladding and internal lining materials, both supplied by a member of the British Woodworking Federation, are performing at the English Institute of Sport in Sheffield. Joinery Subcontractor SH Nicholson Joinery installed some 1200m² of cedar boarding, with the 150mm wide, tongue and groove matchboard secured to treat timber battens, fixed back to steel cladding rails. Inside, Formica faced panels line the walls to resist the impact damage of activities such as basketball. Higher up, or in areas not expected to suffer heavy usage, some 5,000m² of veneer panels and MDF was fitted.
