Controlling air in car park

Colt International Controlling air in car parkFor a car park in Liverpool, Colt International is supplying 80 Cyclone induction fans and 22 Jetstream impulse fans over a 56000m?, four-storey site. These are designed to keep smoke away from the escape routes without the need for smoke curtains or physical barriers. Smoke is moved from a fire into defined corridors making the system a smoke control scheme not an air change rate scheme.

Smoke extractor

Colt International Smoke extractorAn active fan smoke extraction system by Colt extracts smoke more speedily than passive natural ventilation systems, the company claims. Colt Shaft requires a shaft of 0.6m compared with 3m for the BRE shaft, representing an 80% reduction in floor space. It overcomes excessive negative pressures by automatically reducing the ventilation rate when the lobby doors are closed. This is achieved by a pressure sensor linked into the control system that varies fan speed.
