Gun-injected mortars from Easipoint have provided the colour and performance required for a new gallery built in the historic, listed landscape of Yorkshire Sculpture Park. The Underground gallery is the latest addition to the sculpture park which is set in 500 acres of landscaped grounds of the Bretton Estate, West Bretton, near Wakefield. In order to comply with listed building consent some 300m2 of locally quarried natural stone slabs which lwad to the new gallery and also form internal flooring were specified. To meet the need for a mortar that was easy to apply in narrow gaps, nominally 5mm, and provide a colour that would complement the stone paving, a special blend of Easipoint?s standard Sandstone and White mortars were purpose made for the contract. The company claims that through the use of its mortar the pointing sub-contractors were able to form hard-wearing mortar joints cleanly and quickly by gun injection through a special narrow constrictor.
