A new silo-based bedding mortar from EasiPoint has been applied at a public space refurbishment project in Luton. The material is being used for the bedding of imported granite setts, slabs, kerbs, and other detailing over an area totalling 6000m. EasiPoint Granatech slurry-applied jointing mortar has been installed to provide weatherproof jointing between paving.
Having been saved from demolition, a Victorian building is being repointed using a gun-injected mortar from Easipoint.
The building is now being changed into 14 apartments, as well as a bistro bar, in a new development project.
The company was specifed as the mortar cut down the timespan for external refurbishment and achieved a clean finish to complement the architectural details of the buildings.
The contractors had to rake out the existing mortar to a depth of 15mm and replaced it with the gun-injected mortar in Natural colour.
In all 700m of brickwork, featuring smooth red enginnering bricks and terracotta architectural detailing, were replaced using 200 bags of Easipoint over the length of 10 weeks of repointing work. The repointing achieved the effect of restoring the building near to its original condition.
