Cedral Weatherboard helps to showcase housing

Eternit UK Ltd Cedral Weatherboard helps to showcase housingMarley Eternit’s Cedral Weatherboard has been key to giving a new development a look that makes it stand out from the crowd for a showcase of British housing at the International Architecture Exhibition. This cladding material helped designers fill an existing gap site between different typologies and brick colours. By mounting Cedral Weatherboard vertically in a graduated, striped composition of specially selected colours, the facade is able to link with other surrounding building. The colour scheme supports cohesion and identity within this ‘pepper-potted’ mix of private and social housing. Ian Barclay from Marley Eternit said: “We are absolutely delighted that a development featuring one of our cladding materials has been selected to help highlight the best in British housing.”

Hawkins blue smooth tiles

Eternit UK Ltd Hawkins blue smooth tilesRoofing manufacturer, Marley Eternit, is to expand its Hawkins clay plain tiles range with the introduction of a new colour, Blue Smooth. The addition of the new colour means that the Hawkins range is now available in Staffordshire Blue, Staffordshire Mixtrue, Dark Heather and the new Blue Smooth. Marley Eternit reports it has achieved an 'A' rating for its clay plain roof tiles in the BRE's Green Guide to Specification. This allows specifiers to obtain environmental credits for buildings under the BREEAM and Eco Homes schemes. Marley Eternit has made an investment of £19 million at its clay plain tiles facility in Keele, Staffordshire, as part of its on-going commitment to making clay an affordable option. By adapting manufacturing processes to improve efficiency and cutting carbon emissions, the company hopes to change the perception that clay tiles are unsustainable and expensive. Marley Eternit marketing manager, Sarah Hanlon, said: "This new colour gives specifiers the opportunity to create a quality finish, which is continually underlined by PPS3."

Rainscreen cladding panels

Eternit UK Ltd Rainscreen cladding panelsTwo types of fibre cement rainscreen cladding panels from Marley Eternit met a host of performance criteria for the award-winning development of a derelict 1960s Government office building in a rundown area of Glasgow. The manufacturer's Multiclad and Glasal panels, both in grey were specified for their light weight because the design involved stripping the building back to its concrete frame and erecting two steel bracing towers to allow the backbone of concrete cores to be demolished.
