Single-ply roofing specialist FDT has created Rhepanol HG, a new root-resistant membrane created for use with green roofs.
Meeting the criteria laid out in the FLL Guideline for resistance to root penetration, the product is suitable for most roofs whether intensive or extensive.
The product is made from polyisobutylene. Developed from the same material as Rhepanol fk, the new membrane incorporates the life expectancy and eco-friendly properties of this system.
The company claims that the product is the only membrane to meet the criteria set out in ISO 140044f - the 'ecological guide' to construction materials.
The goverment has introduced Part L1 and 2 for new environmentally friendly regulations in urban environments to which green roofs are assisting in.
With a life expectancy of 25 years, Whipps Cross University Hospital in Laytonstone chose Rhenofol from single ply roofing specialist FDT to create a traditional look for its roof extension. Resembling lead, Rhenofol roofing membranes are plasticised PVC, with either a glass fleece or polyester grid reinforcement.
