Roof to roof protection

FDT (UK) Ltd Roof to roof protectionIn order to make the most of flat roofs areas, such as creating green roofs, terraces or paved car parks, the roofing material must be of the highest quality. To fulfill the requirements of green roof applications FDT now offers a new membrane, Rhepanol hg. The single ply membrane offers all the advantages of the company's premium roofing membrane, Rhepanol fk, but thanks to extensive research and testing offers the necessary resistance to roots and rhizome. The membrane is highly resistant to perforation, as well as uv radiation and hail, and remains flexible at temperatures as low as -60?C. It is rot-proof and has proved to be stable against wind uplift. Just like Rhepanol fk, Rhepanol hg is based on polyisobutylene (PIB) and complies with all relevant standards. It is reinforced with a central glass fleece to make it dimensionally stable and is used for waterproofing in loosely laid build-ups, under ballast, or with vegetation. FDT has added a hot air option for application of the membrane to facilitate seam welding, but it is still compatible with Rhepanol fk and its self-sealing edge system. Thanks to its advanced properties, the new membrane can be applied in a single layer.

Copper goes mellow

FDT (UK) Ltd Copper goes mellowNow being offered by single ply roofing specialist FDT is a decorative and durable copper paint finish that is applicable to the company's Rhepanol fk roofing product. The copper paint is actually a coating of liquid polyisobutylene which constitutes the base material of Rhepanol fk itself. However, there are real copper flakes within the solution so that when the solvents dry out, real copper is left on the surface, whilst the polyisobutylene is soaked in to the membrane. Although the initial appearance is of bright copper, this weathers over time to form mellow bronze tones and eventually leave a green patina finish. The coating is always applied after installation and requires two coats to provide an optimum finish. This means that the Rhepanol membrane can be fixed with or without profiles. Seven Developments, based in Bournmouth, recently chose the product for a new idiosyncratic property entitled Moonraker. The product was chosen for its aesthetic benefits. It was specified so that the roof would eventually turn green, and for its ability to prevent heat from the sun warming the house too much.
