Specifiers and contractors now have a professional timber frame system that will provide a time saving solution for garage and carport buildings. The system by Finnforest is made from engineered precision cut timber and is said to offer the look and nostalgia of a traditional oak-style framed building. Finnforest say the system also benefits from the Beamlock system which is an adjustable post support fixing which helps cut installation time and, therefore, cost. The new timber frame system is a technically-advanced modular structure available as either a two-bay carport or a garage with cladded walls. The company also offers 16 models comprising of gable, hipped and barn-end roof designs.

The Soundbar System from Finnforest has been specified by Bloor Homes, for all its timber frame housing and flatted developments in the Wilmslow region, thanks to successful sound tests completed at the housing company's Wrexham site. The test results exceeded Part E relating to noise by 12dB for Airbourne and 12dB Impact, within residential compartment floors.

The Finnforest Merk Theatre, conceived by Maverick Designer Tom Dixon, will play host to the Low Carbon Building Seminar at 100% Detail - the exhibition being held at Earls Court later this month. Using 6m high panels of Kerto, the company's laminated veneer lumber, the theatre is designed as an organic structure.

Working in partnership, Avebury International, WAVE, Pattrick & Thompsons, and Finnforest have delivered 600 timber frame homes. Traditionally used as a floor joist, the Finnforest I-Joist, Finnjoist, has now been applied in housebuilding. Manufactured in the UK, it is constructed from a laminated veneer lumber, Kerto, and high quality OSB3 web, in order to deliver a high strength to weight ratio. All four companies worked together to use the product in wall and roof cassettes.

Outdoor decking structures supplied by Wolseley with materials from Finnforest have been provided to the Charles Wells Pub Company. Around 150 commercial deck kits are expected to be delivered to pubs run by Charles Wells over the next few months. The kits comprise two design options, a gazebo styled building and a deck and pergola system. Deck boards have a grained surface designed to cope with wet conditions and resist insect or moisture damage as well as not requiring painting or staining.

Approached by Tesco and Asda independently, Finnforest Merk is to supply the supermarket companies with new store constructions. Tesco is applying environmental policies to the construction of a store in Wick, Scotland. Glulam from the company is being considered for the structural and load bearing elements of this scheme, as well as panel systems to form the building envelope. Asda has approached the company for applications at two new stores that are being planned for Shaw near Oldham and Bootle in Merseyside. The store at Shaw could incorporate a timber frame while at Bootle panel systems are being considered. Glulam is a strong, engineered timber product which is suited to load bearing elements and buildings with wide spans.
