Expanding its collection, Formica has unveiled its new range of high pressure laminates, including plain colour patterns and woodgrains, incorporating new textures and surface effects. Two new surface textures have been added; MicroDot - a low sheen, satin finish with concave circles, and Naturelle - a soft, dry-wax look. New colours range from neutrals to brights, pinks to purples, like acidic 'Neon Yellow' or calm 'Organic Green', and they reflect the current colour tendencies, soothing and bright tones. Woodgrains like 'Natural Bamboo' offer a new exoticism alongside classic styles like 'Patina Pine'. Optical effects in new patterns include 'Plastique', a three dimensional shifting colour scheme. Overall, 90 new laminates are in the range for the 2006 collection.

Thanks to its inherent structural strength and homogeneous nature, Formica Compact is a versatile material for use in many interior applications, including furniture design and manufacture. Available in over 290 colours, the robust, solid core laminate offers a stylish structural sheet, with its appearance enhanced by the sleek black nature of its core. Suitable for use as cladding or countertops in high traffic areas, the material can handle heat, humidity or moisture. Its structural qualities also lend itself towards use in the construction of items such as lockers, cubicles and shelves. Formica Compact is available in designs from the Plain Colours, Patterns and Woodgrains ranges enabling easy matching between different Formica surfacing materials. It is supplied in two sheet sizes and in a variety of thicknesses from 2mm to 20mm. The company believe that its Compact laminate will be a big hit in the manufacture of furniture, with furniture designer James Burleigh using it as the sole material in several of his pieces.
