A shower toilet for bathrooms catering for the disabled and elderly has been launched by Geberit.
The Balena 8000 Care is aimed at improving the quality of life of people who have difficulty using a conventional WC. Geberit say that people with limited mobility often have to rely on assistance and therefore experience a loss of privacy.
The Balena 8000 Care shower toilet is intended to put an end to this. It combines all the functions of a conventional WC and bidet with the comfort of warm air drying and odour extraction. Other features include a strengthened seat ideal for transfer from a wheelchair. The company also offers an optional soft seat which, it says, has been designed to fit perfectly onto the existing seat and ensures extra comfort when needed. The shower toilet can be installed at a comfortable height to ease side transfer.
Assisting the disabled who want to live in their private homes for longer, Geberit has introduced the Balena 8000 AP Care floor standing shower toilet, which is suitable not only for care homes but domestic settings as well. The unit is a combined WC, bidet, and dryer, with built in air purifier. As well as being robust, the WC has a dirt repellent surface, and the shower is activated by a button on the side of the toilet or by remote control. The shower ejects water at body temperature and gentle warm air after usage. The shower toilet can be set to an individual's preferences, with temperature and nozzle positioning being adjustable, as well as extra choices of oscillating or massage spray for the bidet function.
