As part of the ongoing refurbishment of the Royal Festival Hall, laminated toughened glass has been provided by Glass UK for a suite of oversized Sheerglaze doors, balustrades and coloured staircase panels for the Hall?s retail entrances and foyers. The Hall?s double glazed entrance consists of eight Sheerglaze doors, each measuring 3m by 3.1m. They consist of an aluminium frame sandwiched between two sheets of toughened glass. This combination is designed to deliver a high degree of rigidity and insulation with a sheer glass fa?ade uninterrupted by protruding frames. For the main foyer Glass UK provided a fully integrated double set of doors, creating an airlock system for improved heat conservation. The company also supplied over 100m of laminated toughened glass for the balustrades.
