New E3 folding doors from Hafele will access spaces in walls up to 16 metres in width for an interface between houses and gardens, patios and terraces. The system can handle doors weighing up to 80kgs and measuring 3000mm in height and 1000mm in width. A maximum of 16 doors can be hung in tandem to open inwards or outwards, eight doors to each side. SureLock on the pivots and carriers allows door panels to be precision adjusted for height and position. The use of stainless steel and non-ferrous materials also provides corrosion resistance.

For safety in domestic and contract applications the Junior GP sliding door and partitioning system from Hafele has been upgraded for use in conjunction with laminated glass. The system is by Swiss architectural glass engineer Hawa and divides living spaces that are limited in size. Applications include separating linear-style kitchens and restricted bathroom spaces. Natural light travelling between the spaces is maximised as well. The weight carrying capacity for panels has been increased to 160kg. Sliding hardware carries laminated glass panels to a thickness of 12.7mm with each bonded flush with the hardware. A lower maximum operating height allows top tracking to be fixed to ceilings or a wall fixing profile rail can be used. Clip-on cover caps for patch fittings conceal roller bracket suspension assemblies.

Italian glass manufacturer Metalglas has appointed Hafele to be sole UK distributor for its range of glass door hardware. Glass door hinges, locks and latches are made by the company in solid brass with a range of metallic finishes for interior and exterior use in the civic, public and commercial building sectors. In addition to handles, locks and hinges, the company also manufactures sliding and pivot door gear, frameless folding systems for glass walls, and door jamb profile options for glass infills in aluminium. Also available is a range of pull handles for glass door applications that include long Inox plain straight and shaped pull handles for back-to-back glass door fixing. The company's locks and latches are compatible with Hafele's Startec range of levers providing more than 200 design combination options.

Swiss architectural engineers Hawa AS has launched a new sliding shutter system for external windows. Available in the UK from Hafele, FrontSlide 60 uses a sliding rather than a pivotal operating system. The operating system is adaptable for use across extra wide window frontages and is proof against adverse wind and weather conditions. The FrontSlide 60 and 60/ Matic hardware systems will carry shutter weights up to 60kg and are available for manual or motor driven operation. Due to their load bearing capacity, the sliding systems can be used in conjunction with wood, metal or plastic shutters between 28 and 40mm thick.

Developed for toughened or laminated glass doors and partitioning systems, H?fele has introduced MGG patch fittings. The company claim that the system is the only practical solution for use in conjunction with heavyweight laminated glass. With a load bearing capacity of 120kg, the MGG fittings will support glass pivot doors 20kg heavier than standard single action patch fittings. The system can be used with 10 or 12mm toughened glass or with 8/1.52/6mm laminated. For simpler mounting and storage, the fittings comprise up to 25% fewer components. They are made up of a conical sleeve and ?pig nose? bushes to form a stronger connection between the fittings themselves and the glass panels they support.
