A 60m high Haki Stair Tower is being assembled at the same pace as one of the cores for the internal lift and stair shaft of an office block being constructed in Paddington, London, by PC Harrington.
The construction of the core used a slipform construction technique. An access method was required that was quick and easy to erect and adapt.
The HAKI Stair Tower was assembled in six metre high sections which were then craned into position, keeping pace with the slipform.
It was a complex operation because of the challenges posed by securing the tower to the core at regular intervals below the slipform whilst retaining access to the top of the slipform.
This resulted in eight metres that could not be tied into the main structure.
