Birmingham-based lift company Husbands recently clinched an ?80,000 contract with meat processing company Tulip International to provide goods service lifts at its Tipton and Coalville plants in the region.
Husbands installed two of the largest service lifts it has ever made with a carrying capacity of 1,000kg at the Coalville factory. In addition to the lifts being larger than normal, meat hygiene regulations required that the tower was made from stainless steel rather than the usual galvanised steel. The company also adapted a 500kg goods service lift at Tipton to take larger than usual pallets.
Spanish tapas bar and restaurant chain La Tasca has awarded Husbands the contract to supply food service lifts at several of its 46 restaurants. At La Tasco in York a disabled peoples platform lift and a specially adapted food service lift with a 50kg carrying capacity were fitted. The food service lift was manufactured with a side driven motor because of the low headroom of the city restaurant.
