Two new acoustic systems are to be launched at Housebuilding 07 by Icopal's Monarfloor Acoustic Systems. The Bridgestop system, pictured, has candidate Robust Detail status, while Tranquilt is said to fill the gap left by the suspension of E-FC-3, the Robust Detail for pre-cast concrete floating screed separating floors. Bridgestop prevents both acoustic bridging commonly caused by mortar build up between separating walls, and sound transmission between wall leaf to wall leaf via the slab. By isolating both leafs of the party cavity wall from mortar collecting at the base, Bridgestop allows the use of a continual raft foundation between attached buildings. The system also ensures the robustness of gas membranes where used on contaminated brownfield sites. The second system, Tranquilt, is a one part acoustic system for new-build and refurbished floors that Monarfloor claims will slash installation times. For easier storage and transportation it is 10mm thick and supplied in a 1.5m by 20m roll. It can be laid like a carpet, and once on the ground it is said to maintain stiffness preventing collapse under the weight of the overlaid screed.
