Accessories specialist Gradus has issued a specification guide detailing its portfolio of stair edgings, floor trims and skirting products including its latest high performance XT range.Roofing membranes specialist Icopal has extended its range of FireSmarty high-tech waterproofing solutions with the launch of a range of application equipment.. Claimed to technologically advanced the flame-free welders have been developed over several years by the company's research and development team in conjunction with roofing contractors all over Europe. Now patented, they represent a major step forward for the industry with the potential to root naked flames or boilers in the past. The range comprises an automatic, self-propelled side lap welder for sealing overlaps as well as a full-width welder for fully-bonding membranes and a lightweight hand-held welder for detail work.

Two new acoustic systems are to be launched at Housebuilding 07 by Icopal's Monarfloor Acoustic Systems. The Bridgestop system, pictured, has candidate Robust Detail status, while Tranquilt is said to fill the gap left by the suspension of E-FC-3, the Robust Detail for pre-cast concrete floating screed separating floors. Bridgestop prevents both acoustic bridging commonly caused by mortar build up between separating walls, and sound transmission between wall leaf to wall leaf via the slab. By isolating both leafs of the party cavity wall from mortar collecting at the base, Bridgestop allows the use of a continual raft foundation between attached buildings. The system also ensures the robustness of gas membranes where used on contaminated brownfield sites. The second system, Tranquilt, is a one part acoustic system for new-build and refurbished floors that Monarfloor claims will slash installation times. For easier storage and transportation it is 10mm thick and supplied in a 1.5m by 20m roll. It can be laid like a carpet, and once on the ground it is said to maintain stiffness preventing collapse under the weight of the overlaid screed.

Fall protection systems are available from Icopal under the Anderson Monarlex brand, with the KwikLine cable-based system revised to include Latchway's Constant Force post technology. This transfers the load from the structure of the building to the roof deck. The Kwikline system is complemented by Icopal's KwikGuard guard rail systems, Kwik Access ladders and platforms, Dalite safety roof hatch, and ManGuard static weight anchor system.
