Mapleton Homes, based in Kent, has constructed two prestigious six bedroom five bathroom homes, with sliding sash windows and French-style patio doors. One of the properties features a 12 foot high JELD-WEN timber feature window, with an arched top that spans two storeys and lets the maximum amount of light filter through to the hallway. The other property features a conservatory constructed from JELD-WEN’s bespoke timber windows.

Door maker JELD-WEN has extended its shaker range with a white primed option and a natural oak finish both of which are said to fit with the trend towards lighter colours in the home. A choice of styles is available in both finishes including four and single panel versions in solid and glazed options.

In response to the growing popularity of oak, according to Jeld-Wen, the company has introduced the New Kensington range of external doors. The latest addition to the door manufacturer's collection is available in five designs. The range features three, four, six, and 12 panel designs as well as new glazing styles. The company said triple-glazed units were designed to provide improved insulation. All doors feature bevelled glass with lead detailing as well as frosted grey-tinted glass, also with lead detailing, to create a "fusion of neutral shades that blends perfectly with the natural oak finish of the doors". The doors, which can be specified as a pre-hung doorset, are offered with 1.52m stiles. All feature raised and fielded panels to, the company says, "enhance their decorative style and distinctiveness". The range has been awarded full FSC Chain of Custody certification.

Incorporating designs reminiscent of marquetry-style furniture, Jeld-Wen has introduced a new range of inlaid veneer doors. Complementing the trend for classic styling in the home, the new range comprises a choice of three natural veneered doors in ash, American cherry and white oak. The veneer face of the doors features a stile and rail arrangement that gives the impression of a solid timber door. A horizontal mid rail in the two panel veneer design has been added to further enhance its authenticity. Both edges of the door are finished with a 6mm lacquered hardwood strip.
