Providing flight for furniture
As the building of townhouses increases with the requirement for window stair flights, Jeld-Wen has developed an improved demountable balustrade system.
The system allows for greater convenience when moving large items of furniture into a home. A wide range of contemporary and traditional timber staircases are available with demountable balustrades.
Available with pre-finishing, three coat part finishing and pre-assembled options, the stairs are quick and easy to fit on site and are provided in a range of timber from softwoods through to Oak.

Applied to the house are a patio and roof terrace on two levels and 12 Canberra folding patio doors. Composite doors for new build projects in the public sector are available from Jeld-Wen, providing safety as they meet Secured by Design requirements.
Manufactured from high impact resistant GRP, the doors are robust against attack and feature a multipoint locking mechanism. They also comply with PAS 23/24, Part L legislation and have undergone tests to demonstrate resistance to soft and hard body impact. Including complete project management of developers' requirements, Jeld-Wen now offer a supply and fit service for windows and doorsets.
This new offer means that housebuilders can benefit from detailed status reports at any any stage of the process.
The service features a two tier fitting service; the first stage being installation of windows and doorsets and the second being a commissioning service five days before handover.

With more apartments than houses planned for private and social housing developments for the first time, there is a strong demand for products to meet the technical standards required of these communal areas.
Responding to this demand, Jeld-Wen has developed a new communal timber staircase that meets with all relevant British Standards.
The company offers two styles of staircase, a traditional stair with decorative handrail and a more contemporary design to suit the modern apartment.
New guidance from the BWF (British Woodworking Federation) states that communal stairs must meet specific standards in relation to the strength and weight bearing of the flight and the handrail or banister.
