Refurbishment to the exterior of the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton has been achieved by the use of products from Keim Mineral Products.
The company was chosen for its products which are longlife and weather resistant, which was particularly suitable for an exposed coastal location. Royalan was used on the exterior facades and for previously painted staircases. It is a mineral silicate based paint system developed to withstand climatic conditions. A microcrystalline bond is formed with the mineral substrate to which it is applied. It is breathable, resistant to the ingress of driven rain, and resistant to atmospheric pollution
Chosen for their long life performance, Keim Paints have been used as part of a regeneration programme at Balberg Street, Glasgow. The system was assessed as requiring a 15-20 year repaint cycle, compared to five years with other masonry paints. This is achieved by forming a chemical microcrystalline bond with the substrate, becoming an integral part of the surface.
