With the acquisition of Pace Timber Systems and Potton Kingspan Century has become one of UK's largest timber frame manufacturer. As part of the move the company has been re-branded Kingspan Off-Site.
Kingspan Off-Site director Gilbert McCarthy said: "This has been a natural progression for Kingspan Century and a very positive move for the timber frame sector, as well as the wider construction industry.
"With the skills, expertise and capacity of Kingspan Century and Pace we have the ability to really drive forward change and modernisation in the building industry through the development of innovative building solutions and effective partnership working."
According to Kingspan Century timber frame and timber engineered products are shaking off their association with basic, box-like buildings.
The manufacturer has claimed that, more than ever, timber engineered building systems are being used to create architecturally complex buildings.
Gerry McCaughey, managing director of Kingspan Century explained: "Highly engineered timber frame and SIPs based panel systems are revolutionising the build process, delivering extremely fast build times and providing the design flexibility to create a huge variety of building types."
Housebuilders are increasingly using timber frame for its fast build times and its thermal, acoustic and sustainability credentials. As a result, its perception in the marketplace is changing rapidly.
Led by regeneration developer Crest Nicholson, the SIXTYK Consortium has built its first house as part of the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister's Design for Manufacture Competition.
The prototype, constructed opposite the Building Centre in London, was built using Kingspan Century's TEK Building System. The two bedroomed house serves as an example that attractive, functional houses can be built at a construction cost of ?60,000.
Speaking at the unveiling of the prototype Steven Stone, chief executive of Crest Nicholson said: "Working alongside Sheppard Robson and Kingspan Century, we use efficient construction methods and adhere to the highest environmental standards, to set the benchmark for the design-led affordable homes of the future."
